Diane Suris

Diane is teaches music at Tarpon Springs Middle School. She is currently the Director of Orchestra and Percussion studies, as well as being the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chairperson.  Diane has received numerous honors, including 'Who's Who Among America's Teachers' in 2001,  the Pinellas County Teachers Association's Kraf-Custer 'Outstanding Educator of the Year' award in 2007, and the prestigious 'Tarpon Springs Teacher of the Year' award, along with the Tarpon Springs Policeman, Fireman, and Volunteer of the year award by the Tarpon Springs Rotary Club.

Diane received her Bachelor�s degree from the University of South Florida where she studied with Prof. Robert McCormick and Dr. Mallory Thompson.  Prior to her studies at USF, Diane was fortunate to study timpani with Laura Fischer and was selected to perform at a master class for Cloyd Duff at the University of Colorado.

In addition to her duties at Tarpon Springs Middle, Diane is an active percussion adjudicator and clinician throughout the state of Florida.  She also served as conductor of the Pinellas Youth Symphony Philharmonia Winds for four years and served on the Artistic Staff.

She served as the District Secretary for the Florida Orchestra Association and District Chairperson for the Florida Bandmasters Association.

An active performer, Diane has performed with the Sarasota Orchestra, Eastern Music Festival Philharmonia Orchestra, Florida Symphony Orchestra, Sarasota Concert Band, Southern Winds, Hollingsworth Winds, the Brevard Symphony Orchestra and the Florida Wind Band.
