How big is the Orchestra?
The Orchestra varies in size throughout the year depending on school, vacations,
"winter guests", etc. Typically, the Orchestra seats ~90 musicians. [top]
Is the Tampa Bay Symphony non-profit?
Yes. Tampa Bay Symphony, Inc. is
recognized by the IRS as exempt under section 501(C)(3) and is registered
as a charitable organization with the Florida
Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, registration number CH15538. [top]
How often does the Symphony rehearse?
The Symphony rehearses on Tuesday evenings throughout it's concert season which is
typically runs from August through April.. [top]

Rehearsals are held in the Trinity Presbyterian Church,
Clearwater,

Are the musicians paid?
No. All of the musicians are volunteers and are not paid. [top]
Is there a musician
membership fee?
Yes. Musicians are required to purchase a season subscription.
Subscriptions are as low as $35 per concert season. [top]
How many concerts are performed through the year?
Typically, the Symphony performs three concert series which occur in the Fall,
Winter, and Spring. At times, the
symphony has performed additional concerts programs throughout the year. [top]
Where do you perform?
The Symphony performs at the Bay Areas three concert halls,
St. Petersburg College Arts Auditorium in
Clearwater, Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg, and Tampa Bay Performing
Arts Center in Tampa.. [top]
How much are the tickets?
Adult tickets are $20 at the door. Student tickets are free, but must be
requested in advance except at the Palladium and SPC Clearwater venue
where they are available on site prior to the event. Student ID may be
required for redemption of free tickets. [top]

Group Discounts?
Yes. Groups of 20 or more may purchase tickets for $15, regularly $20.

What is the dress
code for concert events?
Casual dress. Shoes and Shirts required. We ask that one refrains from
wearing large hats that may restrict viewing from others behind. [top]
When should I clap?
Typically, a symphony have multiple movements, separated by 15 to 30
seconds. It is proper to wait until after the final movement has been
performed before clapping. It is acceptable to applaud at any time that
you may feel is appropriate, and recognize performance of the
musician(s), whoever there are times where interruption of a continuing
selection may lessen the "total audience experience". [top]
Are children allowed in
the audience?
We discourage bringing children five and under to indoor events as their
audio behavior may dissrupt those around them, and the dissrupt
the concentration of the musician themselves. [top]
Can we hire the Orchestra for a concert?
Yes. The Orchestra is always interested in being hired to perform
additional concerts. Contact the Symphony's Business Manager at (727)

Does the Symphony offer a scholarship?
No. The Symphony does offer a cash award to each years "Young Artist

The music for each program is selected by the Orchestra's Music Director,
and Conductor, Dr.

Are there any age requirements to join?
No. Age is not important but music skill is. Musicians must meet minimum
performance levels as determined by the music director and section principal.. [top]
Are auditions required in order to join?
Yes and No. When there is an opening, the Music Director and
Personnel Manager will select a candidate and determine
if audition is required. [top]

The Symphony has a subscription program which, in return for a donation starting

Where does all the money go?
All proceeds cover the Symphony's operational expenses and "Young
Artist Competition" awards with the majority going to the
cost of Hall
rental. Other expenses include rehearsal hall rent, music
storage location rent, music rental, copying expense, truck rental (to move equipment to/from
concert locations), music equipment
purchases, publicity,
insurance, and maintenance among other things. [top]
